Chapter 1 - The Letter of Acceptance

Ms. Sybilla from the Village of Spinraft,

I am the Sorcerer Radikor, through my seeing stone I have identified you as a powerful Sorceress, and I invite you to study sorcery as my apprentice. I am the leader of a small, but well supplied trading company of trade merchants. The rune in Spinraft was my first test of your magical talents, since only another Sorcerer could see it, and only an untrained Sorcerer would be compelled to pick it up. You may consider that as your first test, and confident that you have passed. The journey will be difficult, but you are not expected to anything alone, expect for tests and exams.

You will join my Trading Company as we work in the Scar, and we stopped in the wall city of Dor-gata where you will join us. Follow the river South and cross the second bridge to arrive at Dor-Gata. There you will meet Rodring, he is a squire of the Holy order of Trinomion Knights. Rodring will be in the crafters quarter of Dor-Gata and when his business there is concluded, he will lead you to the rest of the Trading Company.

I have made arrangements for a few important artifacts you will need to safely travel through the Scar. The Scar is dangerous, three hundred leagues across it takes us weeks to safely cross the Scar, and only a few travelers can make through the most treacherous routes. The Sun and Moon have not appeared in the sky above the Scar in decades, danger lurks around every corner, and the distances between safe locations are threats all on their own. However sorcery is also amplified in the Scar, far more than any other kind of magic, so the Scar is the ideal place to study your full capabilities as a Sorceress.

  Stolen story; please report.

My Trading Company delivers supplies to the outposts used by the Alliance, who patrol the Scar. Those outposts are shared by the organizations that rely on those outposts to study the Scar, and fulfill their obligations to the Alliance, much like our role as a supplier. We provide more than just food and drink, we specialize in magical artifacts, spell books, and valuable medicines of various effects, which are normally known as potions. I have a collection of spell books which you will study, and I will test your magic skill as you progress in your studies. At each stage, I will determine your magic skills and talents as I direct you to your next goal.

I have a reputation for crafting magical artifacts of the highest quality, but my gift only comes from my love for magic. But crafting is not the only purpose for magic in the Trading Company. So until I can determine your full magical aptitude you will remain my apprentice and you will study, magic appropriate for your level and experience. But be warned, even though the Trading Company understands that you are still an apprentice, the Scar is still dangerous and you will be expected to defend yourself. You will have to rely on Sorcery as your weapon.

If we do not see you in Dor-Gata, I accept your absence that you have declined this invitation to study magic. Then I will just have to keep looking for a new apprentice. Safe travels Sybilla in all you do in life.
