Sarah sat at one end of Rachel’s dining table while Rachel and Lisa sat next to each other at the other end. Sarah still could not comprehend what she had just seen. She took a big gulp of her coffee and set down the mug. “Alright, expin.”
“It all started a few weeks ago.” Rachel began. “Lisa came by my apartment thinking that you still lived here. She said that she wanted to apologize for the way she had been treating you. I told her that you didn’t live here anymore, but then we just got lost in each other’s eyes. I invited her in and we got to talking, then to drinking, and well, we have been seeing each other ever since.” Rachel and Lisa then held each other’s hands.
Sarah just lowered her head and chuckled. “Rachel, why didn’t you just tell me? I don’t care who you date. Besides, Lisa and I have buried the hatchet.”
“To be fair, Rachel and I started dating before you and I made peace with one another.” Lisa said.
“Besides, being in a secret retionship really made things exciting. Especially in the bedroom.” Rachel said. She then leaned her head on Lisa’s shoulder.
Sarah very quickly waved her hands around. “Whoa! Way too much info! But seriously, I’m happy for the both of you. You both deserve happiness.”
“Thanks, that’s very sweet of you.” Lisa said with a smile. Sarah had never seen Lisa smile before, so the whole thing felt very strange.
“So now that you’re on a three game suspension for punching out some jackass, what are you going to do now?” Rachel asked.
Sarah leaned forward and rested her head on her hands. “Well, I’m definitely not going to just y around my apartment all day. I want to get out and see the WildLands. Experience everything that all of the different cities have to offer.”
“That sounds like a good idea.” Rachel said. “I assume that you won’t be going alone?”
Sarah raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
Rachel and Lisa looked at each other and smiled before looking back at Sarah. “You know, having that gorgeous hunk of a boyfriend William go along with you.” Rachel said.
Sarah thought about it for a moment. “Well, William does have three weeks of paid vacation time. But I doubt he would want to spend that time going around the WildLands with me. He told me that he grew up moving around the WildLands so why have him do something he has already done?”
Lisa rolled her eyes and let out a loud sigh. “Because this time he will be with you! The woman he loves! Duh!”
Sarah face palmed herself. “I’m sorry. I’m still just getting used to being in a serious retionship.”
“Hey don’t worry about it.” Rachel said reassuringly. “Just ask William if he would like to come with you. Trust me, he’s going to say yes.”
Sarah smiled as she finished her coffee and got up from her chair. “I’m going to do just that. Thanks for the boost in confidence girls.”
Lisa wrapped her arm around Rachel. “No problem. Now if you’ll excuse us, we have some business that we need to finish.”
Sarah quickly headed out the door. “Right! Sorry! I’ll get out of your hair.”
Later that day Sarah went over to William’s apartment. After ringing the doorbell, William opened the door wearing only his boxers. Sarah didn’t mind, as she and William had already seen each other naked plenty of times.
“Oh I’m sorry. Did I come at a bad time?” Sarah asked.
William smiled. “Not at all. I was just getting a nap before my night shift started. Come on in.” William led Sarah into his apartment. Once again, Sarah could not help but look at his ass. “So how was your girls night out?”
Sarah chuckled and wagged her finger. “Nuh uh. You know what they say. What happens at a girls night out stays at a girls night out.”
William put on a T-shirt and some pants. “Fair enough. But I assume that’s not the only reason you stopped by my pce.”
“No, it isn’t.” Sarah said as she crossed her arms and leaned against the wall. “The reason I’m here is because as you I’m suspended for three games. So I figured I would take that time to go on a little vacation and explore the WildLands. And I know that you have three weeks of paid vacation time, so I was wondering…”
“If I could use my vacation time to come with you?”
“Now it’s your vacation time, so it’s completely up to you.”
William walked over to Sarah and pced his hands on her shoulders. “Sarah, I would love to spend my vacation time with you. And exploring the WildLands sounds like a great idea. I have lived in most of the major areas throughout my childhood, so could your personal guide.”
Sarah could not contain her excitement and was jumping with joy. “William, that's great! Now all we have to do is figure out when we want to leave.”
“How about next weekend?” William suggested. “That’s when I’m pretty much finished up with work anyway.”
“Brilliant idea!” Sarah then gave William a quick kiss. “I’ll go and get everything ready right now.”
As Sarah walked out of William’s apartment, he could not help but look at her ass. “This is going to be the best vacation ever.” William thought to himself.
After Sarah had taken care of all the travel arrangements, she and William packed their bags, loaded up his car, and took off on their trip to see the WildLands. Their first destination was edge city, which got its name because the city was built near the edge of a cliff.
As William drove Sarah decided to ask him some questions about edge city. “So William, was edge city the first pce that your family moved to?”
“Oh yeah. We moved there shortly after I was born. We didn’t stay in edge city that long though. Only about a year. But edge city is famous for its amusement park.”
“And what makes this amusement park so famous?” Sarah asked.
“It has a roller coaster that goes right over the edge of the cliff.”
Sarah’s eyes went wide. “You don’t expect me to ride that thing, do you?”
William let out a chuckle. “Of course not. But I am. Besides, edge city is famous for a lot of other things. For example, they have a really great art museum. And there is this huge fountain in the center of the city that lights up at night. My family took a picture there with all of us when my brother and I were still just babies.” William then took out his phone and brought up the picture which he showed to Sarah.
“Aww, you look so adorable!”
“Heh, Thanks. I was hoping that we could make a personal photo of our own at the fountain.”
“That’s a wonderful idea. I think it’s very sweet.” Sarah said as she handed William his phone back. Sarah didn’t bring it up, but again she noticed that in the family photo William was the only white wolf in a family of gray wolves. Sarah decided to keep it to herself, not wanting to ruin their vacation.
Upon reaching edge city, Sarah could see that the cliff that the city y next to overlooked a beautiful canyon. She also saw the roller coaster that went over the edge of the cliff. It was just as William described it, and just looking at it made Sarah feel nauseous.
Sarah had rented out an apartment on a travel site. After parking in the parking garage and gathering up their things they headed up to the apartment. The door to the apartment had a lock that required a numerical code to get in. Fortunately for Sarah, she was emailed the code by the owner when she rented the pce. When Sarah and William entered the apartment, they were amazed by the pce.
The deluxe apartment had a massive window which provided a perfect view of the canyon. The interior had wall to wall plush white carpeting, along with a long dining table made of marble. Various statues and paintings decorated the walls. The painting depicted the ndscape of the canyon that y beyond edge city. Inside the master bedroom was a circur bed with fluffy white sheets. On the kitchen counter was a note from the owner of the apartment which read:
“Dear guests, welcome to edge city. I do hope that you enjoy your time here. There is a welcoming basket full of fresh fruit in the refrigerator. I only ask that you wash the bed sheets and make the bed before you leave. Please enjoy your stay!”
William opened up the refrigerator and found the fruit basket. He helped himself to some grapes. “Well, that was really sweet of him. And after we look around the city, I know a great way to find a reason to wash those bed sheets.”
Sarah just smiled and brushed William’s face with her tail. “Easy there cowboy. We will have plenty of time for private fun ter. Right now I want to go out and explore edge city.”
“Fair enough. Where would you like to start?” William asked.
Sarah thought for a moment. “How about the art museum? You said that was really great.”
“Excellent choice! And it’s within walking distance. I’ll lead the way.” William then led Sarah out of the apartment building and down the street towards the art museum. It was only a couple of blocks away. When they entered the art museum, Sarah and William were mesmerized by a giant crystal chandelier that hung from the ceiling.
The edge city art museum contained pieces of art both historic and modern. One piece that caught Sarah’s eye was a painting of a nine tailed fox called a Kitsune.
“Hey, this painting kind of looks like me.” Sarah said.
William looked at the painting, then at Sarah. “It does. With the exception of the nine tails of course.” William then leaned in to whisper in Sarah’s ear. “And the sweet T & A.”
Sarah shook her head and chuckled. “Come on, let’s check out the rest of the museum.”
In the modern art section of the museum, Sarah and William came across an exhibit titled WE SHARE THE SAME HEART. They both stood in front of a mirror that overpped an image of a heart and circutory system over their reflections.
The exhibit made Sarah tear up a little. “If only those jerks who call me a crossover knew that we all shared the same heart.”
William put his arm around Sarah and pulled her closer to him. “I guess no matter where you go, be it the human world or the WildLands, there are going to be jerks. But you also have friends who care about you. And a lone wolf who loves you.”
Sarah wiped away the tear from her eye and smiled as she held onto William’s arm. “Thank you. You always know just what to say to cheer me up.”
After looking around the art museum, Sarah and William got some iced coffee and walked around edge city. Some residents even recognised Sarah, but mostly as either the treadmill girl or the pyer for The Warriors who was tripped. They were nice about it however, and even asked for pictures and autographs which Sarah was more than happy to oblige.
“So, are you ready to try out that roller coaster yet?” William asked.
Sarah pced her hand on her hip as she took a sip of her iced coffee and thought for a moment. “Um, no. I’m not not ready yet.”
“Okay, no pressure. We’re still here for a few days. How about we take that photo in front of the fountain like we pnned?”
“Now that is something I’m ready for.” Sarah finished iced coffee and tossed the cup into a recycling bin. She then held William’s hand as they walked towards the fountain. The sun was setting, making it perfect to see the colored lighting effects of the fountain.
Upon reaching the fountain, Sarah was instantly mesmerized by it. There was a central tower made of marble and limestone with stripes of gold leaf. Around the base of the tower were statues of different anthro-animals all holding hands. At the base of the fountain, covered in gold leaf, was the word UNITY.
Water then shot up from the tower in the center of the fountain. The water spiraled upward like a roman candle, with each stream lit up as a different color.
“It’s even more amazing in person.” Sarah said.
“So what pose do you want to do for our photo?” William asked.
Sarah tapped her finger on her chin. “I know exactly what I want to do.” Sarah pulled out her phone and at that moment noticed a beaver walking by. “Excuse me sir! Could you please take a picture of me and my boyfriend in front of the fountain?”
“Sure no problem.” The beaver said. Sarah handed him the phone then ran back over to William.
“I love you, and this is one moment between us that I definitely want to st forever.” Sarah said. She then wrapped her arms around William’s neck and raised her left foot in the air as William wrapped his arms around her waist. The two then kissed each other passionately as the beaver took the photo.
The beaver gave Sarah her phone back and she thanked him. She and William then looked at the photo. “Well, what do you think?” Sarah asked.
“I think it’s perfect. Just like you.” William replied. He then gave Sarah another kiss on the cheek.
Sarah smiled and sent a copy of the photo to William’s phone. She then pced her hands on his chest. “How about we go back to the apartment, order in some takeout, and put that bed to good use?”
“You just read my mind.” William said with a grin.
After spending most of the night doing the nasty, Sarah fell into a deep sleep. When she woke up she looked at the clock to find out that it was only 9:00 a.m. “Hmm, I thought I would sleep in ter than that.” Sarah thought to herself.
Sarah got out of bed and stretched. She then looked around but could not see William anywhere. But Sarah wasn’t worried about William. She trusted him. After taking a warm shower and getting dressed, Sarah made her way to the kitchen where she found William cooking breakfast.
“Good morning. Mmm, something smells good.” Sarah said as she took a seat at the dining table.
William looked over his shoulder at Sarah and smiled. “Morning. I got up early and decided to go shopping at a local market for breakfast. I noticed that there was a waffle maker in the cabinet, so I made waffles. I also cooked up some tofu sausage, chopped up the extra fruit from the fruit basket, and brewed up some coffee. And don’t worry, I bought some coffee creamer.”
Sarah brushed her fingers through her hair. “You’re too good to me.”
William handed Sarah a cup of coffee. “That’s because you’re the best thing to happen in my life.”
Sarah sipped her coffee with a smile. She thought about what William had said. Sarah had dated guys before meeting him, none of them had ever told her the kind words that William had said or had done the wonderful things that he had done for her. This gave Sarah a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. She truly felt that William was the one for her.
As William and Sarah ate their breakfast, William looked over at Sarah. “So, what do you feel like doing today?”
Sarah finished chewing her piece of waffle and took a sip of coffee. “I was thinking of going to that amusement park today.”
William raised his eyebrows. “Oh? Does that mean you’re ready to try out the roller coaster?”
“Let’s not go that far. How about we explore the rest of the park first, and then see how I feel at the end of the day?”
William finished eating his waffle. “Sounds like a pn.”
When they finished breakfast, Sarah and William left the apartment and went down to the parking garage to get into their car. They then drove to the amusement park. As they entered the parking lot, Sarah looked up and saw the roller coaster towering over the entire park.
“By the way, what’s the name of this roller coaster?” Sarah asked.
“It’s called Over The Edge.” William replied.
“Of course it is.” Sarah thought to herself.
After Sarah and William entered the amusement park, Sarah noticed that it wasn’t quite full yet. There were a few couples and families scattered here and there, but not many. It was just one of the benefits of arriving early. It meant that the lines would be shorter.
“So which ride would you like to try first?” William asked.
Sarah looked around and noticed an indoor ride called Dragon’s Lair. “That looks like fun.”
“Great choice. Let’s go!” William led Sarah to the short line for the ride. It was dark inside, with everything made up to look like a cave. When their turn came, Sarah and William sat in a cart and were strapped in. The cart then lurched forward and began its accent up a hill. A voice then came on over the loudspeaker. “This is the wizard! You are now in the dragon’s ir, looking for his treasure. Good luck, but be careful. The dragon sleeps lightly.”
As soon as the cart reached the top of the hill, a cold smoke filled the air. The wizard once again spoke from the loudspeaker. “Oh no! The dragon is awake!” Suddenly, a massive animatronic dragon head came down through the darkness and let out a mighty roar. Sarah was so shocked that she grabbed William’s arm and clung tightly to his white fur.
The cart then went downhill at high speed, jerking from left to right as the dragon emerged from the walls, the ceiling, even an indoor ke. At one point the dragon stood above them, its wings spread wide, as fire erupted from its mouth. Towards the end of the ride a hologram goat wizard appeared opposite the dragon. “Begone foul beast!” The wizard shouted. He then fired a magic bst from his staff that hit the dragon, resulting in a burst of light and pyro.
The cart then slowed down as it moved through a huge room filled with golden treasure. “Congratutions! You have found the treasure!” The wizard said over the loudspeaker.
The ride came to an end and Sarah and William got out of the cart. “So, were you scared?” William teased.
Sarah crossed her arms and looked at the ground. “Hmph. No!”
“My arm begs to differ.” William said with a smile.
Sarah ughed a little and gently elbowed William in the side. “Shut up!” Sarah then noticed that they were in the ride’s gift shop. “See anything you like?”
William shook his head. “Not really. The really good merch is in the gift shop for Over The Edge.”
Sarah still wasn’t too sure about the roller coaster, so she focused on enjoying the rest of the amusement park with William. The two of them went on various rides, including a log ride that left them both soaking wet. They bought towels at the gift shop to dry off with, but that just left their fur sticking out and poofy. This made both of them ugh out loud.
At lunchtime Sarah and William went to an outdoor cafeteria. Sarah got some nachos with soy cheese while William got a pnt based hot dog. “So, are you having fun today?” William asked.
“You bet I am!” Sarah said in between eating nachos. “You’re not going to believe this, but this is my first time at an amusement park. When I was younger I always wanted to go to one, but my parents just kept wanting me to focus on my school work or extracurricur activities.”
William didn’t know what to say. He swallowed his food and washed it down with a drink. “Wow. I had no idea that your parents were so strict.”
“Yeah, but all of that is back in the human world. Now that I’m in the WildLands I feel like I have been given a second chance. To finally do things my way.”
“And you are. You’re living your dream as a pyer for a major league soccer team.”
Sarah took a sip from her drink. “And I’m on a three game suspension for punching out some asshole.”
“He had it coming. Besides, now we get to spend the next few weeks exploring the WildLands and being together.”
Sarah reached over and held William’s hand. “That’s true.” She said with a smile as she looked into his blue eyes. Sarah then finished her nachos and wiped up her face. “Now let’s go see the rest of the park.”
William and Sarah went on a couple of more rides before they finally arrived at Over The Edge. Before they got in line, William turned to Sarah. “Are you sure you want to do this? I don’t want to push you to do something you don’t want to do.”
Sarah took a deep breath. “I’m sure. I no longer want to live my life with regrets.” She then held William by the hand and stood in line. When their turn came they sat in their seats and were strapped in with tight harnesses. As they began their accent to the top of the coaster, Sarah took deep breaths. “I can do this.” She thought to herself.
Once they reached the top of the first drop, there was a brief moment of stillness, and then there was a sudden drop. Sarah could barely see or hear as the wind rushed by her face at immense speed. When she could see, all she saw was the bottom of the cliff. This caused Sarah to cling to her harness even tighter. When they reached the first loop, Sarah felt absolutely weightless as they went upside down.
Before Sarah knew it, the ride was over. Adrenaline was pumping through her body, and it made her feel good. As soon as they got off of the ride William turned to Sarah. “So, did you enjoy it?” He asked.
“It…was a rush!” Sarah said with excitement.
William smiled. “See? I knew you would like it. Now let’s go check out that gift shop.”
Sarah and William looked around the gift shop, eventually deciding on a pair of T-shirts that said “I WENT OVER THE EDGE.” As the day was winding down, they were about to leave when something caught Sarah’s eye. It was a baby dragon plushie that was avaible as a prize at a game booth.
“See something you like?” William asked.
“Yeah. That baby dragon plushie looks really cute.”
“Alright. How about I win it for you?”
Sarah brushed back her hair. “You don’t have to do that.”
“But I want to.” William then walked up to the booth. The rules were that you were given a water gun, and that you had to fill up a balloon before the time was up. William picked up his water gun, aimed carefully, and fired. He hit his mark and the balloon began to fill up with water as the timer counted down. Just as the timer went off, the balloon burst.
William was announced as the winner and he chose the baby dragon plushie as his prize. He instantly gave it to Sarah, who hugged it tight. “So, what are you going to name it?” He asked.
“I’m going to name him Sparky.” Sarah replied.
William patted Sparky on the head. “That’s a good name.”
Sarah and William wrapped their arms around each other as they left the park. “So was your first time at an amusement park as fun as you thought it would be?” William asked.
“Yes it was. But now I feel exhausted.”
“Then how about we go back to the apartment and rex. We can even stream a movie.”
Sarah smiled as she held William and Sparky close. “I’d like that.”
