Chapter 4 : Changes

  I didn’t move for hours.

I just stared at the floating window in front of me.

  Sometimes it would vanish.

Then reappear the moment I thought about it.

Like it was reading my mind.

Like it was… part of me.

  And maybe it was.

  I sat up slowly.

My body still ached, still felt heavy.

But something was different beneath the surface.

  Something… alive.

I reopened the window in my mind. It appeared instantly.

  Stat points available: 5

I didn’t know exactly how it worked.

  But instinct took over.

  An interface like this—

  It wasn’t a dream.

  It was a system.

And systems are meant to be used.

  I closed my eyes.

  Then thought: "Distribute."

  A new menu opened.

  ┌───────────── Point Distribution ──────────────┐

  Stamina: 5

  Strength: 5

  Agility: 5

  Intelligence: 5

  Vitality: 5

  Available stat points: 5

  └────────────────────────────────────┘

  I hesitated.

Then started assigning points, guided by something deeper than thought.

  ┌───────────── Point Distribution ──────────────┐

  Stamina: 5 (+2)

  Strength: 5

  Agility: 5 (+1)

  Vitality: 5 (+2)

  Confirm.

  The window blinked. Then updated.

  ┌───────────── Point Distribution ──────────────┐

  Stamina: 7

  Strength: 5

  Agility: 6

  Intelligence: 5

  Vitality: 7

  Available stat points: 0

  └────────────────────────────────────┘

  No lights. No sounds.

  But my body shivered.

  I felt my heartbeat settle.

  My breath steady.

  My chest… open.

Later, on the platform, I decided to test it.

  Not officially.

  Just me.

  Facing myself.

I stood at the edge, like always.

  Deep breath.

  Hold.

  Go.

  Thirty seconds. Forty. One minute.

My throat tightened a bit. But it was manageable.

My heart stayed calm. My mind too.

One minute thirty. Two. Two thirty.

I held nearly three full minutes before the warning signs kicked in.

Slight dizziness. Pins and needles in my fingers.

  I stopped there. On purpose.

I stood back up, breathing hard—

  But proud.

  Not invincible.

  But definitely… not the same.

  The window returned.

Nothing had changed on the outside.

  But inside, I was changing.

I walked home with my head full of static.

I didn’t say anything to my family.

  Not yet.

  I wasn’t ready.

  And neither were they.

  But one thing was clear:

This system wasn’t just a bonus.

  It was a calling.

And I was going to answer it.
