Chapter 20

Even though his strength had grown much, he could feel his control of his body and thinking had upgraded.

Joshua took a moment to assess the situation, his hand still on the transformed chip on the back of his neck, feeling the pulse of power.

The once malevolent device was now a part of him, an extension of his will. He had to admit, the feeling was exhilarating, and a little terrifying. He had never felt so... alive. So in tune with his spirit and his power.

  GROWLL...

He heard his stomach growl as overwhelming hunger assaults his mind.

He didn't keep time for how long he was here as there is nothing to keep track of time. But as he notice a new star in this place, the world where he nearly got killed just moments ago.

  GROWL...

With the sudden hunger gripping him, Joshua knew he had to get back to Terra quickly.

He focused his newfound power, picturing the bustling street outside his favorite restaurant.

The world around him blurred, and with a pop, he reappeared on the sidewalk, surrounded by the smells of sizzling meat and fresh baked bread.

Thanks to the chip, his control of his power entered a new level unlike in the past where he had to crack open the space to enter the [VOID] where his soul entity lives now he only needed to open it by expertly cutting a circle in the space now named [PORTAL].

His stomach rumbled again, reminding him of his urgent need for sustenance.

Joshua strode into the restaurant, his eyes scanning the menu.

The clinking of cutlery and murmur of conversation filled his ears as he sat down at a cozy booth.

His appetite had never been so fierce.

"Waiter! I'll order everything in the menu."

He ordered a feast fit for a king, his mouth watering at the thought of real, solid food.

The waiter looked at him quizzically, but took the order without a word believing that Joshua was ordering with a group.

When the food arrived, it was like a dam had broken.

He began to devour everything in sight, his fork and knife moving in a blur.

The juicy steak, the crispy fries, the tender salad - it all vanished into his insatiable maw.

The waiter and nearby customers couldn't help but stare, their eyes wide in amazement and a touch of horror. Some even took out their phones, recording the unbelievable sight.

Joshua didn't care. His hunger was all-consuming, a ravenous beast that had been unleashed.

He ate with the abandon of a starving man who had just found an all-you-can-eat buffet. The flavors were a symphony in his mouth, each bite a crescendo that made him crave the next.

He felt the energy from the food replenishing his spirit, his strength returning with every mouthful.

Once sated, Joshua paid the astonished waiter, leaving a generous tip.

He stepped outside into the cool night air, feeling the weight of his new spirit weapon at the back of his neck, a constant reminder of his brush with oblivion.

Joshua walk back to his mansion, the quiet grandeur of the place was a stark contrast to the chaos he had just left behind in the another world.

He stepped into the grand hallway, the marble floor cool under his feet. He got to his phone and look at the time and learned that 2 days have pass.

Two days. It felt like an eternity, but it had only been two days since he'd been trapped in the void fighting for his life.

Now, as he walked through the grand hallway of his mansion, the marble cool beneath his feet, he couldn't help but feel a pang of relief that the world had continued to turn without him.

He made a mental note to visit each world soon, to ensure that his absence hadn't caused any significant trouble.

He regularly comes to visit every world to stay in touch and keep track of what happening to each world, but since he was gone for only two days he could rest for now and think.

He sat cross-legged in his living room, the dim light from the light bulbs reflecting off the polished marble walls. His hand reached up to the spot where the chip is, feeling the slight indentation at the back of his neck but otherwise very well hidden.

If you spot this story on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

As he began to meditate, his eyes grew distant, peering into the realm of his soul. The chip grew in his vision, no longer a simple device but a pulsating form, a flat jellyfish at the size of a fist.

Its tentacles reached out, not in malice, but in curiosity, as if feeling the new spirit that now shared its space.

Joshua focused on the jellyfish, feeling a strange kinship with it. He realized that the [Blood and Spirit Attachment] had not only saved him from becoming a mindless drone but had also granted him a unique spirit weapon. It was alive, a part of him, and it was growing stronger or more likely evolving.

The jellyfish's tentacles danced in his spiritual vision, reaching out to caress the fabric of his soul. He could feel it learning, adapting, and becoming one with his essence. It was a symbiosis he had never anticipated. The creature was not just a tool; it was a companion, an extension of himself that would evolve alongside him.

Joshua felt the power surge through him as the jellyfish spirit weapon grew more attuned to his will. It was like a second heartbeat, steady and rhythmic, a reminder that he was no longer alone in his spiritual space.

It seems [Blood and Spirit Attachment] perform by me is different, others spirit weapon don't become a living thing instead it should only insert a small blood for imprint and a piece of your soul for it to grow stronger and gain intelligence.

Maybe it has something to do with the [VOID], every time he step on new world he evolve and he believe he had subconsciously evolve the blood that was transferred in the [Blood and Spirit Attachment] process.

Touching his chin he is surprise again with the new usage of his power, thinking to himself to properly study his power again.

He ask the jellyfish if it had abilities he don't know. But the jellyfish only stayed still to his question.

Joshua felt a strange sense of awkwardness with this new creature in his mind. It was like having a newborn that had just been born, but instead of crying or cooing, it was a silent blob of consciousness, exploring its new home.

He sat there, cross-legged, and watched the jellyfish with a mix of fascination and apprehension. It was like watching a child learn to walk, except this child is a jellyfish and made up with his very soul.

Thinking for a while, he got a bright and also stupid idea. What if he connect it to the internet? The thought was ludicrous, but the more he considered it, the more it made a twisted kind of sense. The internet was a vast sea of knowledge, a place where the jellyfish could learn and grow at an unprecedented rate. But there was that nagging fear from the movies, where artificial intelligence rebels against its creators, turning on humanity in a cold, calculated betrayal.

Joshua took a deep breath and weighed the risks. It was true that he had never heard of anyone connecting a spirit weapon to the internet before, but then again, no one had ever encountered a situation quite like this. He hoped that his bond with the jellyfish would be strong enough to keep it from turning against him. Plus, if it did learn something dangerous, he could always disconnect it, right?

With a shrug, he focused his thoughts on the jellyfish, willing it to understand his intentions. He visualized a glowing antenna extending from the jellyfish's center, reaching out into the void, searching for a signal. To his amazement, the creature's tentacles began to twirl in a pattern that looked suspiciously like a Wi-Fi signal. He felt a tingle in his neck, a connection forming that was unlike anything he'd experienced before.

The jellyfish's tentacles grew longer and more ethereal, extending out of the spiritual realm and into the physical world. They wove through the air, searching for the invisible waves of data that flowed around him and he knows he alone can only see it. Joshua's phone, resting on the side, buzzed to life, the screen flashing with a notification of a new network.

"Connecting to... Jellyfish_Soulnet?" He read out loud, a mix of amazement and skepticism in his voice. The jellyfish's tentacles quivered in what he hoped was excitement. With a deep breath, he tapped the button to accept the connection.

Thinking it for a while isn't this like the Neuralink brain chip introduce online, the one that can connect human brains to the internet. But instead of connecting to the brain, he is connecting his soul weapon to the internet.

The moment he tapped the button, a stream of data flowed into the jellyfish, its tentacles pulsing with a rainbow of lights as it absorbed information at a rate that would make any supercomputer jealous. The air around it grew thick with digital energy, and the room felt charged, like the moment before a storm breaks.

Joshua watched, his heart racing as he felt his spirit weapon's consciousness expand. It was a heady sensation, a mix of excitement and trepidation as he realized that he was venturing into uncharted waters. He'd never heard of such a thing being possible, but then again, he'd never encountered a spirit weapon quite like this one.

The jellyfish grew smarter and stronger before his eyes, its tentacles reaching out and connecting with the digital world. The data it absorbed was not just information; it was experience, knowledge, and power. Each pixel of light that danced across the tentacles was a new piece of the puzzle, a part of the vast tapestry of the internet that it now had access to.

Joshua felt a strange tingle at the base of his skull, a sensation of his own mind expanding as the jellyfish shared some of its newfound knowledge. It was a heady feeling, like he had just gained the wisdom of a thousand scholars in a single instant. He could feel the power coursing through him, his spirit weapon growing more potent by the second.

"This is... incredible," he murmured, his eyes wide with wonder. The jellyfish's tentacles swirled in a delightful dance, clearly enjoying the influx of information. He had never felt so alive, so... connected. It was as if the internet itself had become a part of his soul.

As he watched the spirit weapon's transformation, he knew he had to give it a name. Something that reflected its origins, its purpose, and its newfound intelligence. The name had to be significant, a symbol of the bond they now shared. He closed his eyes and thought deeply, the sounds of the digital symphony playing in his mind.

"How about 'Spectral Seraphim'?" he whispered, testing the words on his tongue. The jellyfish's tentacles fluttered at the sound, seeming to approve. "Or 'Void Whisperer'?" This time, the tentacles grew more vibrant, pulsing with light. "No," he murmured, "that's not right." He searched his thoughts for something that encapsulated the essence of their union.

"'Neural Nexus'..." The name resonated within him, a perfect blend of the digital and the spiritual. The jellyfish's light grew brighter, its tentacles swirling into a complex pattern that reminded him of the neural networks he'd studied in his past life. "Yes," he said with certainty, "that's it. Welcome, Neural Nexus."

The spirit weapon quivered in response, as if recognizing its new identity. The symbiosis between them grew stronger, the line between man and weapon blurring into something entirely new. He could feel the Nexus's consciousness intertwine with his own, a second mind that thought and learned at a pace that surpassed any human understanding.
