Rem’s Dream Journal is empty. No notes, no art, no pretty depictions or flowery language… It’s a blank slate waiting to be filled.
She pulls out her flower ring stashed away in her backpack as it finally reacts to her magical journal. Shining in every color of the rainbow, it finally integrates into her own story depicting her first adventure into the depths of nightmares.
?Her first dive into the world of nightmares was a courageous one. Setting her own fears aside to soothe the fears of another, she embraced her new identity as Sky, a magical girl who wishes to eradicate nightmares. With blue skies and endless rainbows, she purges all darkness head on with little hesitation.
A flower crown marks her first victory, showcasing her kind and colorful nature.?
?Shortly after discovering the identity of another Dream Catcher, she sought to learn about her duty testing her limits with Light, another Dream Catcher of her era. Though she was overcome with terror, she persisted in soothing a young boy drenched in fear. With grandeur she leapt down into the fray delivering the final blow which would end this nightmare.
This emerald heart serves as a signet to her tenacity and her lively spirit.?
“It doesn’t feel quite right but I guess that’s how it went, huh?” she says. The author must have lost themselves in an attempt at creating a flowery recollection of events.
“But there’s only one Heart of The World… Who gets to keep it?” Rem asks.
She manifests the little emerald gem. Yet it suddenly leaps into Ellis’ Dream Journal creating an entirely new entry while erasing her own.
?Seven battles were held in this damned domain of terror. Only one ended in a triumphant finale. Light valiantly fought this beast in an attempt to end the fears of another. With a combative spirit he sought out to defy his inability to defeat this foe after failing to soothe the fear-ridden boy. Bruised, battered, and burned… No condition could keep him down as he courageously withstood the might of this nightmare. Though he alone wasn’t enough to quell such evil, if not for his efforts, such evil would last far longer leaving deeper rifts within the victim’s soul.
An emerald heart marks the vitatlity of his tenacity. No amount of pain could have him tolerate defeat.?
“Woah! It changes based on who keeps it. Which description do you prefer, Nightfall?” she asks.
“Seven battles, six defeats, and one victory. If not for my partner’s wit, you never could have dealt a finishing blow,” he huffs in response.
Ellis shrugs as he remains unbothered.
“No! Rem should keep it! She defeated it!” yells Morning Dew. “She did everything alone so it only feels fair that she gets to keep it!”
“Your partner wouldn’t have had to bear her duties on her own if she had a competent fairy that could help with!”
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Dew tears up as he heads out the window. Nightfall, for some reason, is awfully hostile towards Morning Dew.
“You went too far!” Ellis shouts at Nightfall. “If you’re only going to complain then leave and do it by yourself!”
He’s just as harsh as Nightfall.
“If that’s what you wish for,” Nightfall says slightly taken aback. “I won’t disturb you in your home any longer.”
He too leaps out without a word.
“Weren’t you going too far too…?” Rem asks worried. “I’ve never heard you yell before so that was kind of scary.”
“It’s what he gets for treating others like that! Morning Dew is obviously a little kid in fairy terms. You can’t just yell at a kid like that.”
“Nightfall can’t be that much older…”
Ellis pouts as he shoos her out of his home. Rem heads home wondering whether or not Morning Dew made it home safe and sound. Now that she’s alone heading home, she wonders how Nightfall found her fairy partner. Can fairies simply find another without effort or do they have to look for each other like people would?
She arrives about half an hour later with Morning Dew laying beneath her covers.
Meanwhile, Ellis is going through his Dream Journal contemplating whether or not he was too harsh. Each entry seems to mention Nightfall in some shape or form clearly showcasing a greater deal of contribution to his battles than Morning Dew has done so far for Rem.
?His second battle came with many hardships. Steady feet and mighty kicks may be of value on land yet incredibly limited atop a cloud far above the sea. Facing a school of vicious skyfish, Light struggled to entertain the great skyshark inducing fear in its victim. His lack of finesse spurred Nightall into action. Inheriting Light’s courage, Nightfall struck down the beast with his very own hands allowing Light to deliver the final blow.
A skyblue pearl displays their triumph over the skyborne marine life.?
If not for Nightfall there would have been no opening to exploit.
?Light, with haste, jumped into action to prevent the humiliation of another. With brute force, he made an attempt at quelling this child’s fears. Yet the shadowy figures remained untouchable as they kept slithering about whispering words of disapproval at a not so athletic child. Due to his partner’s suggestion, he carried the child to the finish line allowing them to be liberated from this nightmare.
This running shoe marks their speedy escape from humiliation.?
If not for Nightfall, he wouldn’t have come to that conclusion.
?Bearing a similar emotional history as the victim of this nightmare, his actions alone weren’t enough to defeat this nightmare. A dark space filled only with emptiness makes for a harsh opponent of the mind. Only after using Nightfall’s words could he quell the anger within this raging child plagued by loneliness.
He was rewarded with the signet of clasped hands as a reminder that violence alone cannot break the binds of darkness.?
If not for Nightfall, he never would have talked to that child.
Nightfall has been of great help during almost all of his battles. Whenever any emotional finesse is needed to approach the nightmare at hand, his wit would help them claim victory. No amount of violence and anger can take away from the fact that he’d never attain a wish without Nightfall’s advice.
“I should look for him,” he tells himself.
Now that he’s thinking about it, he has to wonder just how that time between a Dream Catcher fulfilling a wish and finding another Dream Catcher is spent. Is that time spent alone roaming the streets of Germany waiting for their next partner?
However, Nightfall wouldn’t be found tonight nor the night after when Light is faced with another nightmare.
