Thunderous Applause! Our first nightmare!

  BANG!!!

Rem was just hit by lightning. A teeny-tiny little girl is hiding beneath a pile of clothes. Bracing for the terrors of a thunderstorm she lies prepared beneath her little den of clothes. The girl shrieks upon witnessing this brutal ordeal.

Morning Dew is shocked and aghast after witnessing his partner’s near-demise.

  “Are you okay?” he asks.

“Just fuc-” Rem cuts herself off. “Just hide…”

Morning Dew hides next to the young girl along with Rem. The three of them huddle together as they struggle to keep warm in this stormy hellscape. With zero consideration, the little girl grabs Morning Dew and holds him tight. Squeezing him and his cones seems rather painful as Dewy squirms about.

“Wait. Wait! Be gentle. Don’t hurt my friend, okay?” Rem gently pats her on the head as she begins to loosen her grip.

Before another lightning bolt could strike, she covers the girl’s little ears. They seem to be striking elsewhere once a minute meaning they’ve got a little bit of time to talk to each other.

“I’m Morning Dew! And this is…”

“Ah! I never introduced myself, huh? My name is-”

“Sky!” shouts Dew. “Her name is Sky! She can fly up and destroy the storm!”

  Spouting nonsense…

  “She can?”

“I can?” Rem’s just as perplexed as the little girl. “How?”

The little girl is thinking while Rem covers her ears. She looks at the eye of the storm as a bright idea enters her mind.

“In the middle! Papa says it’s different in the middle!”

She’s thinking of the eye of the storm. Winds should be far calmer in the eye of the storm especially in the minds of a child attending preschool. Making it to the center seems to be the only challenge. Cloth dens are scattered throughout yet are rather sparse for this arduous journey. How they are supposed to reach that eye when it’s a kilometer treck with just a few checkpoints inbetween.

  “Let’s go! Dewy!”

Rem immediately lunges forward dashing out into the fray. Barely avoiding a lightning strike she heads for the first semblance of shelter. Yet, before long, she’s struck down by another lightning bolt with Morning Dew remaining beneath their first recluse along with the little girl. Terrified, he can’t bring himself to leap forward and fly along with her.

She gets back up and immediately is struck once more. Her right to advance was denied. None shall end this nightmare lest they disperse the fears of the nightmare-haver.

“Come on! They’re not that scary!” she tells herself looking back at the little girl and Dew.

  BANG

  Again…

Rem is dealing with a merciless flurry of lightning strikes growing stronger in intensity. Yet, she can’t afford to cover in fear as a little girl and a terrified fairy are threatened by this dreamscape. She rises while being assaulted by lightning and thunder. With a fist to the sky and a finger pointed at her companion she proudly begins her final rush.

“A magical girl can dispel all fear and clear all skies!” she declares with glory. The clouds begin to disperse offering triumphant lighting to the queen barraged by lightning. “To bring joy to scared children and the weak that cannot help themselves is my duty! I won’t allow something as puny as a nightmare to destroy your beauty rest!”

She begins to run again not letting herself be stopped by anything thrown at her. Thunderous applause, magnificent lightning, brutal winds, and merciless rainfall… nothing can stop her now that she’s motivated and in peak form. Both Morning Dew and the little girl are awestruck as their vibrant hero leaps toward victory. One final jump has her taking off into the heart of the storm! With her arms outstretched and tightly clasped hands she burrows into the eye.

From afar, their vibrant little rainbow fades as the clouds swallow her whole. The skies darken before triumphantly opening up to sunshine and rainbows. Darkness scatters and fades as a chilly but comforting gust of wind decimates their cloth forts. The end of an era of darkness has come sweeping in with a burst of joy!

Rem lands next to the formerly scared pair and embraces the two of them as flowers begin to bloom.

“See? They’re not that scary! It’s safe. There wouldn’t be any rainbows without a bit of storm, right?”

“Right! They’re not! Again! I want more rainbows!”

Morning Dew and the girl frolick around as Sky remains rested beneath the clear sky. Her colors are faded and her energy is spent yet she’s experiencing a high she hasn’t felt before. Picking out a few flowers and creating a flower crown is her last self-assigned task of the night. She gracefully places it atop the little girl and embraces the two of them as playtime has drained their energy.

After their happy little conclusion, Rem can feel this dream’s end drawing closer. Not much time remains until they all have to wake up. Even the little girl cannot muster up any words of approval or joy as she’s growing tired too tired. Rem’s eyes are growing heavier till they finally remain shut.

Loud incessant ringing disturbs her beauty sleep. Restoration be damned when you’re faced with school and an unpaid job you’re faced with every night. Opening her bedroom window exposes her to the freshness of spring and the strange yet pleasant smell of a morning after rain. Her back is wrecked due to falling asleep in her chair and she’s still exhausted with no energy for school. Thunderaus applause indeed as any higher being gets to enjoy her anguish for the night. Dewy is still resting atop her desk.

“I need rest…” she says dejected. Even the sweetest dreams cannot contest a good night’s sleep. Since she had been lacking just that these past few days, she allows herself to call in sick and go back to bed.

“I can’t just fall asleep either when the sun’s out…”

“Guess I’ll read a book. When’s the last time I voluntarily read something?”

Reading it is! Out of all the things she can do on her two days off, she decides to read. The disgusting assignments creeping up on her aren’t helpful but with an extra day of time, they shouldn’t be much of an issue. Breezing past four chapters, she’s only 10% closer to finishing a book she started half a year ago but it’s far more than the average of 2% she’d be able to dish out in a week. At this rate, she may finish it before the start of next year.

Since her brother’s at school and her mom at work, she has plenty of time to deal with a few chores. For someone who’s still a teenager and just turned 18 she presents plenty of maturity and a great sense of duty. Cleaning the bathroom and other yucky stuff of that kind are usually delegated to her, but if she deals with groceries today and makes enough lunch for the next three days, she should be able to shirk her responsibilities onto the other members of the family.

“Mornin‘…” yawns Morning Dew. For someone with such a positive and bright name kind of representative of an early rise, he’s rather late and a little too tired.

“Morning Mountain Dewy!” Rem responds. “We’re approaching ‘Good Afternoon’-times so hurry up and get ready. I have plenty of questions that need answering.”

“It’s Morning Dew and I’m hungry…” he replies. “Give me food.”

Lunch is finished along with a bunch of chores. They have plenty of time till her family returns home. Now’s the time for revelations!
