14. A Tour of the Estate

The rest of the tour went by quickly. Leon pointed out the key areas—where Protectors trained, where they ate, where they reported for missions. Aiden barely processed all of it, still overwhelmed by everything.

Eventually, they arrived at his assigned room.

“By the way,” Leon said casually, “you have a roommate.”

  Aiden frowned. “Oh?”

“She’s… interesting,” Leon said with a smirk. “She’s usually calm, but she can be a bit maniputive sometimes.”

Aiden raised an eyebrow. “That’s not very reassuring.”

Leon ignored him and opened the door.

The moment the door swung open, a rge wooden wardrobe came crashing forward.

  “Shit—!” Aiden jumped back.

Leon, however, didn’t even flinch. The wardrobe passed right through him like it wasn’t even there.

  Aiden blinked in confusion.

Then, from inside the room, a calm female voice spoke. “That was a test.”

  Aiden looked inside.

A girl sat on one of the beds, a book in her hands. She had dark hair and sharp eyes, her expression completely uninterested in his presence.

Leon sighed. “Elise. Can you not traumatize the new guy on his first day?”

She didn’t even look up. “If he’s going to live here, he needs to get used to surprises.”

Aiden took a deep breath, already feeling like this was going to be a long experience. He stepped inside, cautiously watching her. “So… you can make illusions?”

Elise finally gnced at him. “Yes.”

  “…That’s it?”

She looked back at her book. “That’s it.”

  Aiden sighed.

Leon patted him on the shoulder. “Get some rest. Training starts tomorrow. Oh, and Elise?”

  Elise turned a page. “Mm?”

Leon smirked. “Try to be nicer to your new roommate.”

Elise didn’t respond, but Aiden could swear he saw a small smirk on her lips.
